Community Outreach

Webb Insurance Group selects a local charity or organization each quarter to support. We value being part of the community and want to give back and help support local efforts.

This quarter, we’re supporting the Answered Prayers Project, whose mission is to equip low-income women with skills to gain workforce opportunities while building a community of support, restoring their dignity and fostering hope through faith, cloth, and clay.

On behalf of Answered Prayers Project, we are collecting items to help low-income women in our community this quarter. Some of their needs are feminine hygiene products, cleaning supplies, diapers, hotel soaps, shampoos and wipes.

Answered Prayers Project was founded in 2008 by Elizabeth Bunbury as a clay-based therapeutic arts program and community building resource after overcoming a season of life-altering challenges and loss in her own life. Elizabeth believes that lives are strengthened and hearts are mended through sharing our personal stories. Before founding APP, Elizabeth received her B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Art from Skidmore College. Under her leadership APP has grown into a successful local business producing over 45,000 one-of-a kind clay crosses, hearts, and butterflies that have been shared in 50 states and 32 different countries. Each piece is hand-made and numbered, and APP has registered more than 3,700 stories of hope and healing on its website connected to individual clay pieces. APP has also proudly garnered local support through thousands of hours of volunteer work generated through the clay ministry.

Building on the success of the clay project, Elizabeth was empowered to propel APP to the next level. Through years of volunteering in homeless shelters, she knew there were many wonderful organizations in St. Petersburg providing lifesaving essentials, but very few resources in place to teach women employable skills to help them retain a job and provide a safe place for emotional support. That experience was the impetus for Sewn Together – a 12-week workforce readiness program that teaches sewing and personal development skills to women who are facing financial and emotional hardship.

This quarter, we’re supporting the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida! Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  It’s also Girl Scout Cookie Season! Find a Girl Scout you know and support them with an order!

Why participate and support? There is no program like it.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-run business in the country. Much more than a fundraiser, it’s a unique, hands-on way for girls to develop five essential skills that are core to the Girl Scout Leadership Program. Girl Scouts become Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, and Leaders.

Girls are empowered by the cookie program to become successful business women. She can be anything. She can do anything. Help her build a lifetime of skills and confidence.

  1. Goal-setting
  2. Decision-making
  3. Money management
  4. People Skills
  5. Business ethics

There are three ways you can get delicious Girl Scout Cookies, but all three have one thing in common – you have to buy from a Girl Scout.

Online Orders – Jan. 1 – Mar. 10
Girls launch their own customized and safe website and connect with their customers via email. Customers order and pay directly online.

In-Person Orders (AKA Cookies on the Spot) – Feb. 2 – Mar. 10
Girls take their cookie inventory right to the door of their customers’ homes and/or businesses.

Cookie Booths – Feb. 15 – Mar. 10
Look for booths in front of hundreds of wonderful businesses (thank you!) throughout west central Florida. You can use the Cookie Finder app to find the booth location nearest you wherever you go by entering your zip code.

Metropolitan Ministries

This quarter, we’ve selected Metropolitan Ministries as our local organization and will be collecting donated goods until Wednesday, December 19th.

More than 100 children and their families live with Metropolitan Ministries day-in and day-out. But that’s not all. Nearly 32,000 families get help at the Ministries every year. Meeting the ever-increasing need of Tampa Bay depends on the generosity and commitment of community partners.

For the final quarter of the year, we will collect nonperishable foods to feed local families.

By donating at our office, you’ll be entered to win two tickets to the Tampa Bay Lightning vs Las Vegas Golden Knights game on February 5th! We’ll choose the winner on December 20th.

Stop by our office at 3212 S Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to drop off your donated goods. If you have questions, call us 813.887.5531.
